《鶯鶯傳》是(shi)唐代傳奇小說(shuo),由元稹(zhen)編(bian)撰。原題《傳奇》。主要講(jiang)述的是(shi)貧寒書生張(zhang)生對沒落貴族女子崔鶯鶯始亂終(zhong)棄(qi)的悲劇故事。
唐貞元中,有張生者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),性溫茂,美風容(rong),內秉堅(jian)孤,非禮不可入。或朋従游宴,擾雜其間,他人皆洶洶拳(quan)拳(quan),若將不及;張生容(rong)順而(er)(er)已,終不能(neng)亂。以是(shi)年二(er)十三,未(wei)嘗(chang)(chang)近(jin)女色(se)(se)。知(zhi)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)詰(jie)之(zhi),謝而(er)(er)言(yan)曰:"登徒子非好色(se)(se)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),是(shi)有兇行。余(yu)真好色(se)(se)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),而(er)(er)適不我值。何以言(yan)之(zhi)?大凡物之(zhi)尤者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),未(wei)嘗(chang)(chang)不留連于心,是(shi)知(zhi)其非忘情者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)也。"詰(jie)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)識之(zhi)。
無幾何,張生游于(yu)蒲,蒲之東十余里,有僧舍曰(yue)普救(jiu)寺,張生寓(yu)焉。適有崔氏孀婦,將歸長(chang)安,路(lu)出于(yu)蒲,亦止茲寺。崔氏婦,鄭女(nv)也;張出于(yu)鄭,緒其親,乃異(yi)派之従母。是歲,渾(hun)瑊(zhen)薨(hong)于(yu)蒲,有中人(ren)(ren)丁文雅,不善(shan)于(yu)軍(jun)(jun),軍(jun)(jun)人(ren)(ren)因喪而擾,大掠蒲人(ren)(ren)。崔氏之家,財產(chan)甚厚,多奴仆,旅寓(yu)惶駭,不知所托。
先(xian)是張(zhang)與蒲(pu)將之(zhi)(zhi)黨有(you)善(shan),請吏護之(zhi)(zhi),遂不(bu)(bu)(bu)及于(yu)難。十(shi)(shi)余(yu)日,廉(lian)使杜確將天子命(ming)以總戎節,令于(yu)軍,軍由是戢(ji)。鄭(zheng)厚張(zhang)之(zhi)(zhi)德(de)甚(shen)(shen),因(yin)飾饌以命(ming)張(zhang),中(zhong)堂宴(yan)之(zhi)(zhi)。復(fu)謂張(zhang)曰(yue)(yue):"姨(yi)之(zhi)(zhi)孤嫠未亡,提攜幼稚,不(bu)(bu)(bu)幸屬師徒大潰,實不(bu)(bu)(bu)保其(qi)身(shen),弱子幼女,猶君之(zhi)(zhi)生,豈可(ke)(ke)比常(chang)恩(en)哉?今俾以仁兄(xiong)(xiong)禮(li)奉見,冀所以報(bao)恩(en)也。"命(ming)其(qi)子,曰(yue)(yue)歡郎,可(ke)(ke)十(shi)(shi)余(yu)歲(sui),容甚(shen)(shen)溫美。次命(ming)女:"出拜爾(er)兄(xiong)(xiong),爾(er)兄(xiong)(xiong)活爾(er)。"久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)辭(ci)疾(ji),鄭(zheng)怒曰(yue)(yue):"張(zhang)兄(xiong)(xiong)保爾(er)之(zhi)(zhi)命(ming),不(bu)(bu)(bu)然(ran),爾(er)且擄矣(yi),能復(fu)遠嫌乎(hu)?"久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)乃至(zhi),常(chang)服(fu)睟容,不(bu)(bu)(bu)加(jia)新飾。垂(chui)鬟接黛,雙(shuang)臉(lian)銷(xiao)紅而已,顏(yan)色艷異,光輝動人。張(zhang)驚為(wei)之(zhi)(zhi)禮(li),因(yin)坐鄭(zheng)旁。以鄭(zheng)之(zhi)(zhi)抑而見也,凝睇怨(yuan)絕(jue),若不(bu)(bu)(bu)勝其(qi)體者。問其(qi)年紀,鄭(zheng)曰(yue)(yue):"今天子甲子歲(sui)之(zhi)(zhi)七月,終(zhong)于(yu)貞元庚辰,生年十(shi)(shi)七矣(yi)。"張(zhang)生稍(shao)以詞(ci)導之(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)對,終(zhong)席而罷。
張(zhang)(zhang)自(zi)是(shi)(shi)惑之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),愿(yuan)(yuan)(yuan)致(zhi)其(qi)情,無(wu)(wu)由得(de)也(ye)。崔(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)婢(bi)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)紅娘(niang),生私為(wei)(wei)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)禮者數(shu)四,乘間(jian)遂道(dao)其(qi)衷。婢(bi)果(guo)驚沮,腆(tian)然(ran)(ran)而(er)(er)(er)奔,張(zhang)(zhang)生悔之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。翼日,婢(bi)復(fu)至(zhi)(zhi),張(zhang)(zhang)生乃(nai)羞而(er)(er)(er)謝之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)復(fu)云所(suo)(suo)求(qiu)(qiu)矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。婢(bi)因(yin)(yin)(yin)謂張(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"郎之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)言,所(suo)(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢言,亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢泄。然(ran)(ran)而(er)(er)(er)崔(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)姻族(zu),君(jun)(jun)所(suo)(suo)詳也(ye),何不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)因(yin)(yin)(yin)其(qi)德(de)而(er)(er)(er)求(qiu)(qiu)娶(qu)焉?"張(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"余始自(zi)孩提,性不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)茍合。或(huo)時紈綺間(jian)居,曾莫流(liu)盼。不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)為(wei)(wei)當年,終有(you)(you)所(suo)(suo)蔽。昨日一席間(jian),幾不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)自(zi)持(chi)。數(shu)日來,行忘(wang)止,食(shi)忘(wang)飽,恐不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)逾旦(dan)暮。若因(yin)(yin)(yin)媒氏(shi)而(er)(er)(er)娶(qu),納采問名(ming),則三數(shu)月(yue)(yue)(yue)間(jian),索我(wo)(wo)(wo)于(yu)枯魚(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)肆矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。爾其(qi)謂我(wo)(wo)(wo)何?"婢(bi)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)貞(zhen)慎自(zi)保(bao)(bao),雖所(suo)(suo)尊不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)以(yi)(yi)非(fei)語(yu)犯之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),下人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)謀,固難入(ru)矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。然(ran)(ran)而(er)(er)(er)善(shan)屬文,往往沈(shen)吟章(zhang)句,怨慕(mu)者久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。君(jun)(jun)試(shi)為(wei)(wei)喻情詩以(yi)(yi)亂之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)然(ran)(ran)則無(wu)(wu)由也(ye)。"張(zhang)(zhang)大喜,立(li)綴春(chun)詞(ci)二(er)首以(yi)(yi)授(shou)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。是(shi)(shi)夕,紅娘(niang)復(fu)至(zhi)(zhi),持(chi)彩箋以(yi)(yi)授(shou)張(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)所(suo)(suo)命也(ye)。"題其(qi)篇曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)《明月(yue)(yue)(yue)三五夜(ye)》,其(qi)詞(ci)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"待月(yue)(yue)(yue)西廂下,迎風戶半開。拂墻(qiang)花(hua)影動(dong),疑(yi)是(shi)(shi)玉人來。"張(zhang)(zhang)亦微喻其(qi)旨,是(shi)(shi)夕,歲(sui)二(er)月(yue)(yue)(yue)旬有(you)(you)四日矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。崔(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)東有(you)(you)杏花(hua)一株,攀援可(ke)逾。既(ji)望之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)夕,張(zhang)(zhang)因(yin)(yin)(yin)梯其(qi)樹而(er)(er)(er)逾焉,達于(yu)西廂,則戶半開矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。紅娘(niang)寢于(yu)床,生因(yin)(yin)(yin)驚之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。紅娘(niang)駭(hai)(hai)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"郎何以(yi)(yi)至(zhi)(zhi)?"張(zhang)(zhang)因(yin)(yin)(yin)紿之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)氏(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)箋召我(wo)(wo)(wo)也(ye),爾為(wei)(wei)我(wo)(wo)(wo)告之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。"無(wu)(wu)幾,紅娘(niang)復(fu)來,連曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)!至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)!"張(zhang)(zhang)生且(qie)喜且(qie)駭(hai)(hai),必謂獲濟。及崔(cui)至(zhi)(zhi),則端(duan)服(fu)嚴(yan)容,大數(shu)張(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):"兄(xiong)(xiong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)恩,活我(wo)(wo)(wo)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)家,厚(hou)矣(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)。是(shi)(shi)以(yi)(yi)慈母以(yi)(yi)弱子幼女見(jian)托(tuo)。奈何因(yin)(yin)(yin)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)令之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)婢(bi),致(zhi)淫(yin)逸之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)詞(ci),始以(yi)(yi)護人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)亂為(wei)(wei)義,而(er)(er)(er)終掠亂以(yi)(yi)求(qiu)(qiu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),是(shi)(shi)以(yi)(yi)亂易亂,其(qi)去幾何?誠欲寢其(qi)詞(ci),則保(bao)(bao)人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)奸,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)義;明之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)于(yu)母,則背人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)惠,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)祥;將寄(ji)與(yu)婢(bi)仆,又(you)懼不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得(de)發其(qi)真誠。是(shi)(shi)用托(tuo)短章(zhang),愿(yuan)(yuan)(yuan)自(zi)陳啟(qi),猶懼兄(xiong)(xiong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)見(jian)難,是(shi)(shi)用鄙靡(mi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)詞(ci),以(yi)(yi)求(qiu)(qiu)其(qi)必至(zhi)(zhi)。非(fei)禮之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)動(dong),能(neng)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)愧心,特(te)愿(yuan)(yuan)(yuan)以(yi)(yi)禮自(zi)持(chi),無(wu)(wu)及于(yu)亂。"言畢,翻然(ran)(ran)而(er)(er)(er)逝(shi)。張(zhang)(zhang)自(zi)失者久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),復(fu)逾而(er)(er)(er)出,于(yu)是(shi)(shi)絕望。
數夕,張(zhang)生臨(lin)軒(xuan)獨寢(qin),忽有人覺之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。驚駭而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)起,則(ze)(ze)紅(hong)(hong)娘斂衾攜(xie)枕而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)至(zhi)。撫張(zhang)曰:"至(zhi)矣(yi)!至(zhi)矣(yi)!睡何(he)為哉?"并枕重(zhong)衾而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)去。張(zhang)生拭(shi)目危坐久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),猶(you)疑(yi)夢(meng)寐,然(ran)而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)修謹以(yi)俟。俄而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)紅(hong)(hong)娘捧崔氏(shi)而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)至(zhi),至(zhi)則(ze)(ze)嬌羞(xiu)融冶,力不能(neng)運支體(ti),曩(nang)時端莊(zhuang),不復(fu)同(tong)矣(yi)。是夕旬有八日也,斜月晶瑩(ying),幽輝半(ban)床。張(zhang)生飄飄然(ran),且疑(yi)神仙(xian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)徒,不謂従人間至(zhi)矣(yi)。有頃,寺(si)鐘(zhong)鳴,天將曉,紅(hong)(hong)娘促去。崔氏(shi)嬌啼宛轉,紅(hong)(hong)娘又(you)捧之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)去,終夕無(wu)一言。張(zhang)生辨色而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)興(xing),自疑(yi)曰:"豈其夢(meng)邪?"及明(ming),睹妝在臂,香(xiang)在衣,淚光熒熒然(ran),猶(you)瑩(ying)于茵席而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)已。是后又(you)十(shi)余日,杳(yao)不復(fu)知。張(zhang)生賦《會真(zhen)詩》三十(shi)韻,未畢,而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)紅(hong)(hong)娘適(shi)至(zhi)。因授之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),以(yi)貽崔氏(shi)。自是復(fu)容之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),朝隱而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)出,暮隱而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)入,同(tong)安于曩(nang)所謂西廂者(zhe),幾一月矣(yi)。張(zhang)生常詰鄭氏(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)情,則(ze)(ze)曰:"我不可(ke)奈何(he)矣(yi),因欲就成之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。"無(wu)何(he),張(zhang)生將之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)長安,先以(yi)情喻(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。崔氏(shi)宛無(wu)難詞,然(ran)而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)愁怨之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)容動人矣(yi)。將行(xing)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)再(zai)夕,不可(ke)復(fu)見,而(er)(er)(er)(er)(er)張(zhang)生遂(sui)西下。
數月(yue),復(fu)游于(yu)蒲,會(hui)于(yu)崔氏(shi)者又累月(yue)。崔氏(shi)甚工(gong)刀札,善屬文,求索再三,終(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)不(bu)(bu)可見(jian)。往(wang)(wang)往(wang)(wang)張(zhang)生(sheng)自(zi)以(yi)(yi)文挑(tiao),亦(yi)不(bu)(bu)甚睹覽。大略(lve)崔之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)出人者,藝必窮(qiong)極(ji),而貌若(ruo)不(bu)(bu)知;言則(ze)敏辯,而寡于(yu)酬(chou)對。待張(zhang)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)意甚厚,然未(wei)嘗以(yi)(yi)詞繼之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。時愁艷幽邃(sui),恒(heng)若(ruo)不(bu)(bu)識;喜慍之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)容,亦(yi)罕形見(jian)。異(yi)時獨夜操(cao)琴(qin)(qin),愁弄凄惻,張(zhang)竊聽之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),求之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),則(ze)終(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)不(bu)(bu)復(fu)鼓矣(yi)(yi)(yi)。以(yi)(yi)是(shi)愈惑之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。張(zhang)生(sheng)俄以(yi)(yi)文調及期,又當西去(qu)。當去(qu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)夕,不(bu)(bu)復(fu)自(zi)言其(qi)情,愁嘆于(yu)崔氏(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)側。崔已陰知將訣矣(yi)(yi)(yi),恭貌怡聲,徐謂(wei)張(zhang)曰:"始亂(luan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),終(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)棄之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),固其(qi)宜矣(yi)(yi)(yi),愚不(bu)(bu)敢恨。必也(ye)君亂(luan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),君終(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),君之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)惠也(ye);則(ze)歿身之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)誓(shi),其(qi)有(you)終(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)矣(yi)(yi)(yi),又何必深感于(yu)此(ci)行(xing)(xing)?然而君既(ji)不(bu)(bu)懌,無以(yi)(yi)奉寧。君常謂(wei)我善鼓琴(qin)(qin),向時羞(xiu)顏,所(suo)不(bu)(bu)能(neng)及。今且往(wang)(wang)矣(yi)(yi)(yi),既(ji)君此(ci)誠。"因命拂琴(qin)(qin),鼓《霓裳羽衣序》,不(bu)(bu)數聲,哀音怨亂(luan),不(bu)(bu)復(fu)知其(qi)是(shi)曲(qu)也(ye)。左右皆唏噓(xu),張(zhang)亦(yi)遽止之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。投琴(qin)(qin),泣下流連,趨歸鄭(zheng)所(suo),遂不(bu)(bu)復(fu)至。明旦而張(zhang)行(xing)(xing)。

所(suo)善楊巨(ju)源好屬詞,因為(wei)賦《崔娘詩(shi)》一(yi)絕云:"清潤(run)潘郎玉不如,中庭蕙草雪銷(xiao)初。風流才子多(duo)春思,腸斷(duan)蕭(xiao)娘一(yi)紙書。"河南元(yuan)稹,亦續生(sheng)《會真詩(shi)》三十(shi)韻(yun)。詩(shi)曰(yue):

張之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)友聞之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)者,莫不聳異之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),然(ran)而(er)張志亦絕(jue)矣。稹特與張厚,因(yin)徵其(qi)(qi)詞。張曰(yue):"大凡(fan)天之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)所命尤(you)物也,不妖其(qi)(qi)身,必(bi)妖于(yu)人(ren)。使(shi)崔氏子(zi)遇合富貴(gui),乘寵嬌(jiao),不為(wei)云,不為(wei)雨(yu),為(wei)蛟為(wei)螭,吾不知其(qi)(qi)所變化矣。昔殷之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)辛,周之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)幽,據(ju)百萬之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)國,其(qi)(qi)勢甚厚。然(ran)而(er)一女子(zi)敗之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),潰其(qi)(qi)眾(zhong),屠其(qi)(qi)身,至今為(wei)天下僇(lu)笑。予(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)德不足(zu)以勝妖孽,是用(yong)忍情。"于(yu)時坐者皆為(wei)深嘆。
后歲余,崔(cui)(cui)已委身于(yu)人,張(zhang)亦有所(suo)娶。適經(jing)所(suo)居,乃因其夫(fu)言(yan)于(yu)崔(cui)(cui),求以(yi)(yi)(yi)外兄見(jian)。夫(fu)語之(zhi)(zhi),而崔(cui)(cui)終(zhong)不(bu)為出。張(zhang)怨(yuan)念之(zhi)(zhi)誠(cheng),動于(yu)顏色,崔(cui)(cui)知之(zhi)(zhi),潛賦一(yi)章詞(ci)曰:"自従消瘦減容(rong)光,萬轉千回懶下床。不(bu)為旁人羞不(bu)起,為郎憔(qiao)悴卻羞郎。"竟(jing)不(bu)之(zhi)(zhi)見(jian)。后數日,張(zhang)生將行,又賦一(yi)章以(yi)(yi)(yi)謝(xie)絕(jue)云(yun):"棄(qi)置今何道(dao),當時且自親。還將舊(jiu)時意(yi),憐取眼前人。"自是絕(jue)不(bu)復(fu)知矣。時人多許張(zhang)為善補(bu)過者(zhe)。予常于(yu)朋會之(zhi)(zhi)中(zhong),往(wang)往(wang)及(ji)此意(yi)者(zhe),夫(fu)使知者(zhe)不(bu)為,為之(zhi)(zhi)者(zhe)不(bu)惑。貞元歲九月(yue),執事李公(gong)垂(chui),宿于(yu)予靖(jing)安(an)里(li)第,語及(ji)于(yu)是。公(gong)垂(chui)卓然稱異,遂為《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)歌》以(yi)(yi)(yi)傳之(zhi)(zhi)。崔(cui)(cui)氏小名鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying),公(gong)垂(chui)以(yi)(yi)(yi)命(ming)篇。
關(guan)于(yu)張生的(de)原(yuan)型,舊有張籍(文昌)、張珙(君(jun)瑞)、張先(子(zi)野)三說﹐皆誤。
宋代王铚在(zai)《〈傳奇〉辯證(zheng)》考證(zheng)張生為元(yuan)稹本人。
宋代趙令畤在《侯鯖集》第五(wu)卷,《辯傳奇鶯(ying)鶯(ying)事》中論證
詳細。
魯迅在(zai)《中(zhong)國(guo)小說史略》中(zhong)說:“《鶯鶯傳(chuan)》者,……元(yuan)稹以張生自寓,述(shu)其親歷之境。”
今(jin)人吳偉斌著(zhu)《元稹(zhen)考論(lun)》,商榷(que)魯迅、陳寅恪、岑仲(zhong)勉等名家的權(quan)威(wei)結論(lun),否(fou)定“張生(sheng)自寓”說。
關于崔(cui)鶯(ying)鶯(ying)的原型,王铚(zhi)認為鶯(ying)鶯(ying)是元(yuan)稹(zhen)姨母鄭氏與永年縣尉崔(cui)鵬之(zhi)女崔(cui)氏,即元(yuan)稹(zhen)的表妹。
近人陳(chen)寅恪從元稹詩集(ji)一首《曹十(shi)九(jiu)舞綠鈿》,假定“曹十(shi)九(jiu)”是(shi)“曹九(jiu)九(jiu)”的(de)(de)訛誤,又說(shuo)“九(jiu)九(jiu)”二字(zi)古音與鶯鳥(niao)鳴(ming)聲相近,認為(wei)崔鶯鶯應是(shi)名叫(jiao)“曹九(jiu)九(jiu)”的(de)(de)“酒家(jia)(jia)胡(hu)”,“此女姓曹名九(jiu)九(jiu),殆亦出(chu)(chu)于中(zhong)亞種族”,因“中(zhong)亞胡(hu)人善于釀酒”,得出(chu)(chu)曹九(jiu)九(jiu)是(shi)“酒家(jia)(jia)胡(hu)”的(de)(de)結論。
還有一些其它(ta)說法(fa),今人(ren)卞孝萱在《元(yuan)稹(zhen)年譜》中指出,“‘工于投(tou)機(ji)取巧之才人(ren)’元(yuan)稹(zhen),怎么忽(hu)然蠢起來(lai),把一個社會地位低下的‘酒家胡(hu)’,說成(cheng)自己的姨(yi)妹(mei)?”。
吳偉斌在《元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)(zhen)考(kao)(kao)論(lun)》和(he)《元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)(zhen)評(ping)傳》中(zhong)對《元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)(zhen)年譜(pu)》、《元(yuan)(yuan)白詩箋(jian)證稿》等(deng)進行糾(jiu)謬,重新考(kao)(kao)證了元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)(zhen)的為人(ren)和(he)其作品,“解決了學術(shu)界關于元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)(zhen)一直無法自圓的諸多問題”。人(ren)物(wu)考(kao)(kao)證至今仍無定論(lun)。
《鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)傳(chuan)》寫張(zhang)生(sheng)與崔鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)戀(lian)愛,后(hou)來又(you)將(jiang)她遺棄(qi)的(de)(de)(de)故事。起始(shi)張(zhang)生(sheng)旅居(ju)蒲州(zhou)普救寺時發(fa)生(sheng)兵亂,出(chu)力救護了同寓寺中的(de)(de)(de)遠房姨母鄭氏一(yi)(yi)家。在(zai)鄭氏的(de)(de)(de)答謝宴上,張(zhang)生(sheng)對(dui)表妹(mei)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)一(yi)(yi)見傾心,婢女紅(hong)娘傳(chuan)書(shu),幾(ji)經反復,兩人(ren)終于(yu)(yu)花好月(yue)圓(yuan)。后(hou)來張(zhang)生(sheng)赴京應(ying)試(shi)未中,滯留(liu)京師,與鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)情書(shu)來往,互(hu)贈(zeng)信物以表深情。但張(zhang)生(sheng)終于(yu)(yu)變(bian)心,認為鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)是天下之“尤物”,還搬出(chu)商紂,周幽王亡國的(de)(de)(de)例(li)子,證明(ming)自己“德不足(zu)以勝妖(yao)孽(nie)”,只好割(ge)愛。一(yi)(yi)年多后(hou),鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)另嫁(jia),張(zhang)生(sheng)也另娶。一(yi)(yi)次張(zhang)生(sheng)路過鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)家門(men),要(yao)求以“外兄(xiong)”相見,遭鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)拒(ju)絕(jue)。數日后(hou)張(zhang)生(sheng)離去(qu),鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)回詩決絕(jue)“棄(qi)置今(jin)何道,當時且自親。還將(jiang)舊時意,憐取眼前人(ren)”。當時人(ren)們還稱贊張(zhang)生(sheng)“始(shi)亂終棄(qi)”的(de)(de)(de)行為是“善于(yu)(yu)補過”。小說顯然是站在(zai)張(zhang)生(sheng)的(de)(de)(de)立場,美化張(zhang)生(sheng),為他的(de)(de)(de)薄幸行為辯護。
傳(chuan)奇小說名篇。元(yuan)稹撰,原題(ti)《傳(chuan)奇》,《異聞(wen)集》載此篇,還保存原題(ti),收(shou)(shou)入《太平廣記(ji)》488卷,收(shou)(shou)錄時改作《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)傳(chuan)》,沿用至今,又因傳(chuan)中有賦《會真詩》的(de)內容(rong),俗亦稱(cheng)《會真記(ji)》。其(qi)篇末說:“貞元(yuan)歲九月(yue),執事(shi)(shi)〔友(you)〕李(li)公垂(chui)(李(li)紳字)宿于(yu)(yu)予靖安里第(di),語及于(yu)(yu)是(shi)(shi),公垂(chui)卓然稱(cheng)異,遂為《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)歌》以傳(chuan)之(zhi)。”今考出是(shi)(shi)貞元(yuan)二十年(804年)九月(yue),元(yuan)稹將故(gu)事(shi)(shi)講給李(li)紳聽(ting),李(li)紳作《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)歌》,元(yuan)稹寫了這篇傳(chuan)奇。
《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)傳》于(yu)敘事中(zhong)注意刻畫(hua)人(ren)物性格和(he)心理(li),較好地塑造了(le)崔(cui)鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)的(de)形象。崔(cui)鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)是(shi)一(yi)個在封建家庭的(de)嚴(yan)格閨訓中(zhong)長(chang)大(da)的(de)少女。她(ta)(ta)有(you)強烈的(de)愛(ai)情(qing)(qing)要求,但又在內心隱(yin)藏得很(hen)深(shen),甚至有(you)時(shi)還會(hui)在表面(mian)(mian)上(shang)(shang)作出完全相反的(de)姿態。本來(lai),通過(guo)她(ta)(ta)的(de)侍婢紅娘(niang),張(zhang)(zhang)生與她(ta)(ta)已相互用詩(shi)表達了(le)愛(ai)情(qing)(qing)。可是(shi),當張(zhang)(zhang)生按(an)照她(ta)(ta)詩(shi)中(zhong)的(de)約(yue)定前來(lai)相會(hui)時(shi),她(ta)(ta)卻又“端(duan)服(fu)嚴(yan)容”,正言厲色地數(shu)落(luo)了(le)張(zhang)(zhang)生的(de)“非(fei)禮之動(dong)”。數(shu)日后(hou),當張(zhang)(zhang)生已陷于(yu)絕望時(shi),她(ta)(ta)忽然又采取大(da)膽的(de)叛(pan)逆行(xing)動(dong),主(zhu)動(dong)夜奔張(zhang)(zhang)生住(zhu)所幽會(hui),“曩(nang)時(shi)端(duan)莊,不(bu)復同矣”。崔(cui)鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)的(de)這(zhe)種矛(mao)盾和(he)反復,真實地反映了(le)她(ta)(ta)克服(fu)猶豫、動(dong)搖而(er)終于(yu)背叛(pan)封建禮教(jiao)的(de)曲(qu)折過(guo)程。但是(shi),她(ta)(ta)在思(si)想(xiang)上(shang)(shang)又始(shi)終未能(neng)(neng)徹(che)底擺脫社會(hui)、出身、教(jiao)養所加給她(ta)(ta)的(de)精神桎梏。她(ta)(ta)仍然認(ren)為私自戀(lian)愛(ai)結合是(shi)不(bu)合法(fa)的(de),“始(shi)亂之,終棄之,固其宜矣,愚不(bu)敢恨”。因而(er)在她(ta)(ta)遭到遺棄以(yi)后(hou),就只能(neng)(neng)自怨自艾,聽(ting)從命運(yun)的(de)擺布。這(zhe)又表現(xian)了(le)她(ta)(ta)思(si)想(xiang)性格中(zhong)軟弱的(de)一(yi)面(mian)(mian)。作品中(zhong)對(dui)這(zhe)一(yi)形象的(de)刻畫(hua),傳神寫態,有(you)血有(you)肉,異常(chang)鮮明。
作(zuo)者為了替張生遺棄崔(cui)(cui)鶯鶯的(de)無恥行徑辯解開脫,竟(jing)藉其口大罵(ma)崔(cui)(cui)鶯鶯為“尤(you)物”﹑“妖(yao)孽”﹑“不(bu)(bu)妖(yao)其身﹐必妖(yao)于人(ren)”,這就(jiu)不(bu)(bu)僅使得(de)人(ren)物形像前后不(bu)(bu)統一,也(ye)造成了主(zhu)題思想(xiang)的(de)矛盾。誠如魯迅《中國小說(shuo)(shuo)史略》所說(shuo)(shuo):“篇末文(wen)過飾非,遂墮惡(e)(e)趣。”盡(jin)管如此,讀(du)者從作(zuo)品的(de)具體描述中卻(que)仍然(ran)感到崔(cui)(cui)鶯鶯令人(ren)同情(qing),而(er)張生的(de)負(fu)心,則令人(ren)憎惡(e)(e)。應該說(shuo)(shuo)作(zuo)品的(de)客觀藝術效果(guo)與(yu)作(zuo)者的(de)主(zhu)觀議論評價是截然(ran)相(xiang)反的(de)。
前語之(zhi)(zhi),后(hou)前不(bu)(bu)一(yi),文過(guo)非飾,余有異(yi),敢(gan)敘一(yi)二。本(ben)自(zi)(zi)非正(zheng)(zheng),乃歸正(zheng)(zheng)之(zhi)(zhi),人道張生(sheng)無(wu)情,始亂終棄。姻緣(yuan)(yuan)之(zhi)(zhi)理(li),父母之(zhi)(zhi)命,媒妁之(zhi)(zhi)言。父母之(zhi)(zhi)命者,夫婦之(zhi)(zhi)道,崇敬(jing)之(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)敢(gan)以私(si)心害法(fa),媒妁之(zhi)(zhi)言,該無(wu)偏,以示(shi)明正(zheng)(zheng)。故有八抬大轎,明媒正(zheng)(zheng)娶(qu)之(zhi)(zhi)意。兩者之(zhi)(zhi)緣(yuan)(yuan),本(ben)自(zi)(zi)私(si)心,何敢(gan)正(zheng)(zheng)堂(tang)。且(qie)后(hou)以外兄見(jian)之(zhi)(zhi),女以否(fou)。何故?蓋怨念之(zhi)(zhi)隨。后(hou)者當(dang)之(zhi)(zhi),妻(qi)為正(zheng)(zheng),獨尊,勢比陰陽。妾,以美(mei)色私(si)意財貨稱(cheng)之(zhi)(zhi)。兩者焉能并(bing)取。諸(zhu)輩以情愛為夫妻(qi)之(zhi)(zhi)本(ben),隨今,男女之(zhi)(zhi)道不(bu)(bu)尊,私(si)意比離,天(tian)下(xia)彌亂。庭不(bu)(bu)正(zheng)(zheng),與(yu)天(tian)下(xia)純然,可(ke)乎!
