閻羅(luo)天子包拯,前本居第一殿,因憐屈死(si),屢(lv)放(fang)還(huan)陽伸雪,降調此殿。司掌叫喚大地獄(yu),并十(shi)六誅心小(xiao)獄(yu)。凡(fan)解到此殿者,押赴望鄉臺,令之(zhi)聞見(jian)世(shi)上(shang)本家,因罪遭(zao)殃各事(shi),隨(sui)即推(tui)入(ru)此獄(yu),細查(cha)曾犯何惡,再(zai)發(fa)入(ru)誅心十(shi)六小(xiao)獄(yu),鉤出其(qi)(qi)心,擲與蛇食,鍘(zha)其(qi)(qi)身首(shou)(包公即善于用鍘(zha)刀(dao)),受苦滿日,另發(fa)別(bie)殿。
十六誅(zhu)心(xin)地獄分別為:
一、誅(zhu)不敬鬼神、猜疑是否有(you)因(yin)果報應的心小(xiao)地(di)獄;
二、誅殺害(hai)生命的心小地獄;
三、誅將善愿未完(wan)就犯惡的心小地(di)獄;
四、誅親近罪惡(e)、行(xing)為錯誤等惡(e)行(xing)的心小地(di)獄;
五、誅欺善怕惡、怨恨他人不(bu)快死的心(xin)小地獄;
六、誅計較名利、是(shi)非,移禍他人等心(xin)小地(di)獄(yu);
七、誅(zhu)強奸婦女(nv)、設計令(ling)婦女(nv)失貞、引誘婦女(nv)委屈地(di)順從自己的(de)淫(yin)意(yi),或者(zhe)不論有(you)無謀害之意(yi),與婦女(nv)貪戀淫(yin)樂等心(xin)小地(di)獄(yu);
八、誅損人以(yi)利己等(deng)小心(xin)地獄;
九、誅慳貪不舍、不愿布施、不顧別人(ren)面臨(lin)生(sheng)死(si)緊急(ji)之困境等心小(xiao)地(di)獄;
十、誅(zhu)偷竊(qie)、盜(dao)取別(bie)人財物,昧(mei)著良心(xin),耍賴而不還債等心(xin)小(xiao)地獄;
十一、誅(zhu)忘恩負義、以(yi)仇報怨等心小地獄;
十二(er)、好(hao)斗(dou)、好(hao)賭、好(hao)勝(sheng),以致牽(qian)連、拖(tuo)累他人(ren)等心小地獄(yu);
十三、誅為了名(ming)利、欺騙、誘惑大眾(zhong)等心(xin)小地獄(yu);
十(shi)四、誅(zhu)自己雖未親自加害(hai),但卻狠毒地教唆他人(ren)去害(hai)人(ren)等心(xin)小地獄;
十(shi)五、誅妒嫉(ji)善良、賢能(neng)等心小(xiao)地獄;
十(shi)六、誅執迷不悟、死不改過、誹謗他(ta)人等心小地獄(yu)。

據南宋時期(qi)郭憲所撰(zhuan)《洞冥記(ji)(ji)》記(ji)(ji)載:昔包老(lao)閻羅,原居一殿,因他(ta)過(guo)于慈悲(bei),憐憫(min)屈死(si)(si)之人(ren),及(ji)未了善愿之人(ren),屢放回陽,故上帝(di)降調,令居于大海(hai)之底,東北(bei)沃(wo)燋石下(xia),司(si)掌五(wu)殿,后因功(gong)大封為閻羅天子,權(quan)重位尊(zun),仍將望鄉臺(tai)移置(zhi)于此。”(注釋:大體(ti)意思是(shi)包拯本來是(shi)第一殿閻王,但是(shi)因他(ta)過(guo)于慈悲(bei),憐憫(min)屈死(si)(si)之人(ren),被玉帝(di)降到第五(wu)殿,司(si)掌叫喚(huan)(huan)大地獄(yu),此處的叫喚(huan)(huan)大地獄(yu)不是(shi)卞城王的那個(ge)。)
據元朝時期脫脫所撰《宋史·包(bao)(bao)拯(zheng)(zheng)傳》記載:童稚婦(fu)女,亦知其名,呼曰包(bao)(bao)侍制。京師為(wei)之語曰:關節(jie)不(bu)(bu)到,有(you)閻羅(luo)包(bao)(bao)老。舊制,凡(fan)訟訴不(bu)(bu)得徑造庭(ting)下。拯(zheng)(zheng)開正門,使得至前陳曲直,吏不(bu)(bu)敢欺(qi)。(注釋:大(da)體意思是(shi)包(bao)(bao)拯(zheng)(zheng)在朝廷為(wei)人剛強(qiang)堅毅,貴戚宦官因此較為(wei)收斂。小(xiao)孩(hai)和(he)(he)婦(fu)女叫他“包(bao)(bao)待制”,關系之所以打不(bu)(bu)通,是(shi)因為(wei)有(you)閻羅(luo)王和(he)(he)包(bao)(bao)老頭。)
